Zenith represents a mixture of trade knowledge and modern design, says Thierry Nataf, president of this manufacture. This close to 150-year-old watch brand is at the threshold of developing into a luxury brand that need not shy away from comparison to the biggest names in the Swiss trade. At the moment, the reputable manufacture brand belonging to the Louis Vuitton Moet & Hennessey (L.V.M.H.) group has only a limited selection of movements at its disposal in order to achieve this, but the Elite and El Primero calibers have proven themselves to be quite versatile and multifaceted.
The first creation to arise from this new relationship can be recognized within the brand's perpetual calendar, whose movement is based on the company's chronograph caliber El Primero. The ChronoMaster XXT Quantieme Perpetuel will first be issued encased exclusively in a white gold case (45 rnrn), and does not spare luxury anywhere else either. The same is true of the newest version of the rectangular Port Royal, now justly named Grande Port Royal in its luxuriant case dimensions (51 X 36 mm). The rectangle houses a guilloche pattern in the center of the dial, as well as a rotor whose inner surface is engraved with this pattern as well. Another new product is the Grande ChronoMaster Open model. Previously, watch fans were only able to enjoy a look at the movement through the sapphire crystal case back on the watch's flip side, but the unusual cut-away in the dial at 9 o'clock now allows the observer to view the terrific throbbing of El Primero's heart at length.

There is now an expansive hole where the conventional automatic chronograph usually displays a subsidiary seconds scale. Or, to be more precise, a three-pocket hole whose three drill centers lead through the axes of the fourth wheel, escapement wheel and balance. This is a considerably difficult design as the movement's main plate also needed to be "opened" in the area Of the cutaway. The unusual dial visuals of the Open model are further intensified by a small sweep power reserve hand and its comet tail shaped scale line. This watch literally smiles at its beholder, all the while winking at him or her with 36,000 eyelash beats per hour.
In order to open the world of the El Primero to women, the ChronoMaster Star was also created. Because this model alone does not a ladies watch collection make, it is available in widely diverse color variations, with or without the addition of precious gems. However, as previously stated, the traditional Zenith manufacture is only at the beginning of its new development.
