Jorg Schauer will never be "everybody's darling." The design of his watches is not exactly mass consumer taste: Functional, edged cases with a visibly screwed-on bezel and sober dials in simple black or white characterize his strict design. However, if one observes these unconventional timepieces more closely, a quality of workmanship is discovered that deserves anyone's respect.
The relinquishing of obvious decoration, the sheer weight of the case, and the working of the cases' matte, unpolished surfaces leads one to believe that a "typical" watchmaker is not at
work here (if there is such a thing). Jorg Schauer has a different take on watches. For him design, material, surface, and working of the details are most important. This is the goldsmith in him coming out.
Jorg Schauer also makes customer wishes outside of the current collection come true. But such clients have to be patient waiting for their dream watches, for each and every serial model is worked and scheduled individually, causing Jorg Schauer's small team to work permanently at capacity. Although the cases received from the supplier are of the best quality, each one is
polished yet again by Jorg Schauer. "My standards are just too high," Jorg Schauer says with a grin. "I touch absolutely everything up!" There will never be models in Jorg Schauer's workshop that follow fashion trends, for he only makes watches that he likes himself.

A good example is the current model Digital 2, featuring a jump hour display that has allowed him to realize his wish of "building a crazy watch." Digital 2 is crazy because it has the appearance of a quartz watch, behind whose simple black dial is hidden a disk mechanism powered by a historical manufacture caliber: PUW Caliber 560 D made by the former Pforzheimer Uhrenrohwerke. Schauer always finds rarities such as these from pforzheim's history and makes modern watches from them - delicacies for collectors. In the meantime, he is even the owner of the brand Durowe (Deutsche Uhren¬Rohwerke), whose Caliber 7440 he has lavishly refurbished and is now manufacturing in small series.
Jorg Schauer's collection also comprises various chronographs and a growing number of simple three-hand watches with robust, contemporary automatic movements.
