Brior

In the heart of Germany, between the watch meccas of Glashutte and the Swiss Jura, in the heart of Kulmbach, a city famous for its beer, the small company Brior is to be found. The invented name is derived from the English word briar and the French word for gold, or. Precious woods had always cast a spell on the master watchmaker and goldsmith Holger Wecker. From the thousands of types of wood known today, briarwood from the Italian region of Tuscany and dark ebony wood hold a special meaning for mankind. Both are among the most desired and costly of precious woods. Due to their extreme hardness and an almost metallically smooth surface, these woods have been especially revered from the beginnings of human civilization. In particular, ebony has a reputation for being exotic and extraordinary. The master himself picks out his woods in Italy, judging them on quality and grain. Because of their long storage times, the woods are almost no longer "settling" and are resistant to dampness such as splashed water and sweat. A stable metal case capsule inside of the lathed wooden body keeps the watch absolutely water-resistant. In order to enjoy hearing and seeing the fine mechanics of the watch, all of Brior's models are outfitted with a transparent case back.

The movements Brior uses are always of choice finished quality and may also be decorated upon request so that the client's desire for individuality literally has no boundaries. One of the highlights of the collection is the model Fin Calendrier, which is underlayed by a finely skeletonized calendar disk made of onyx. Another specialty is the new steel watch Robello. It features an automatic movement with date display, and Holger Wecker has designed a special module in order to realize a rotating, off-center display on the dial. This display can be decorated using the initials of the wearer if so desired. The handmade leather straps outfitted with snaps receive special attention. These are made of soft, allergy-free leather and are folded so cleverly that no metal touches the skin. Holger Wecker is one of the first winners of the Design Award for Upper Franconian Trade. The high-quality jury honored not only Wecker's good design in awarding him this prize, but also his innovative business idea.
